Mayor Sam Teresi and the Jamestown City Council recently honored their departing colleagues, Council President Greg Rabb (right) and Councilman George Spitale (left), in their roles as Council members.
President Rabb has presided over the Council for the past 10 years and has served on various boards and commissions during his tenure. Council Member Spitale worked in the Department of Public Works for nearly 35 years before retiring and successfully running for Council in 2007. He has held the at-large seat ever since and served as the Public Works Committee Chair. Both men have committed to continuing to serve in a volunteer capacity on any city boards or commissions to which they may be appointed.
Mayor Teresi gifted Spitale an authentic World Wrestling Entertainment championship belt, given to the city by the company when it held an event at the Jamestown Savings Bank (Northwest) Arena several years ago. The mayor also gave Rabb, of Polish decent, a bottle of Krupnik, his favorite traditional Polish liqueur.
The City Council will elect a new President during the panel’s reorganizational meeting on January 8, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 2ndFloor, Municipal Building, 200 E. Third Street.
