Office of Public Safety

In February 2003, at the request of the Mayor, the Jamestown City Council unanimously passed a law to create the Office of Public Safety. Under the Director of Public Safety, the office is in charge of administering the Jamestown Police Department and the Jamestown Fire Department. While the day-to-day operations are spearheaded by the Police Chief and Deputy Fire Chief, merging the two departments into the Office of Public Safety allows them to share resources and personnel more effectively. Please see the individual sites for the Police and Fire Departments for more information on the services provided through those agencies.
