Jamestown Mayor Teresi Elected NYCOM President

Jamestown Mayor Sam Teresi (second from right) is sworn in as the President of the New York State Conference of Mayors President on Monday, May 17, 2010. Outgoing President, West Hampton Dunes Mayor Gary Vegliante, presided over the swearing in, which included naming Village of Seneca Falls Mayor Diana Smith as first vice president, Ogdensburg Mayor William Nelson as second vice president, and Albany Mayor Gerald Jennings (not pictured) as treasurer.

"At a time when local officials are working cooperatively and innovatively to do more with less, Mayor Teresi will be instrumental in NYCOM's efforts to strengthen the partnership between the state and its local governments," Peter Baynes, Executive Director of NYCOM, stated. "Our membership will benefit greatly from his experience and leadership."

The Conference of Mayors represents 590 cities and villages in New York State ranging from the smallest village to the City of New York. NYCOM has been in existence since 1910.
