Harvey Appointed Deputy Fire Chief

Deputy Chief HarveyMayor Sam Teresi today announced the appointment of Battalion Chief Chester “Chet” Harvey, Jr., to the position of Deputy Fire Chief. Harvey will replace Deputy Chief Lance Hedlund who retired earlier this year after a three-decade, distinguished career with the Jamestown Department.

Throughout his 25-year firefighting career, Harvey has served in many capacities in the Jamestown Fire Department. He became a firefighter in September 1984 and was promoted to Lieutenant in September 1992. In commenting on the appointment, Mayor Teresi stated, “It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Chet Harvey as the Jamestown Fire Department’s next Deputy Chief. Chet led a field of outstanding candidates that were interested in and eligible for this Civil Service appointment. With his comprehensive and varied experience within the fire service, he undoubtedly will lead this department with distinction and build upon the tradition of excellence established by his predecessors.”

Harvey lives on Vinnie Street in the City of Jamestown with his wife of 30 years, Joni, and their two daughters, Mallory and Shelby.
