Official Announcement
The Jamestown Parks, Recreation, and Conservation Department is pleased to announce another season of the Summer Playground Program. Allison Anderson, a graduate of SUNY Brockport in Physical Education, will be serving her third year as Playground Supervisor. Prior to that, she was a playground director and had worked at two program locations.
There are seven playground program locations this year, including Rogers Elementary School, Fletcher Elementary School, Johnson Street Tot Lot, Lillian Dickson Tot Lot, Love Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School, and Ring Elementary School.
Returning staff members include: Alex Berdine, Mike Calimeri, Allie Dole, Britta Johnson, Danielle Johnson, Randi Heitman, Sarah Mott, Ashley Calla, and Danielle Pask. The new staff members are Mackenzie Caldwell, Matthew DeAngelo, Aleida Foulk, Shawna Hess, Kylle Johnson, and Leasen Oste.
This year’s program will run from Monday, June 28th thru Friday, August 6th with all sites being open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and is geared for children between 5-13 years old.
During the course of the summer there will be many great citywide field trips and activities scheduled including bowling, a talent show, a carnival, and the Playground Olympics. At the individual locations there will be contests, including favorites like watermelon eating and hula-hooping. There will be equipment and games such as Kayla, kickball, Football, Box Hockey, and Wiffle Ball at each playground site for the children to play with at any time.
Children must register the first time they attend their playground site. They are free to come and go as they wish after that point.
The city’s summer playground program is made possible through a direct city budget allocation and additional support from the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Ralph C. Sheldon Foundation, New York State Office of Children and Family Services, and Jamestown Public Schools.
