Public Works Director Jeffrey Lehman, P.E., announced today that Phase 1 of leaf collection in Jamestown will begin on Monday, October 31, 2011. Residents are asked to rake leaves to the terrace area.

Phase 1 will begin in the Foote Avenue, Martin Road, and Linwood Avenue area move east, counterclockwise, to the Chadakoin River in the Washington Street and Fluvanna Avenue area. Start of Phase 2 will be announced at a later date.

No yard waste, brush, hedge trimmings, garden debris, tree lumber or bagged leaves will be collected. This material as well as leaves can be brought to the Fluvanna Avenue Yard Waste Disposal Site. The DPW will temporarily extend the hours of the disposal site beginning October 31st through November 23rd, weather permitting. The extended hours of the disposal site will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Residents are permitted to deposit leaves and other yard waste at the disposal site as long as they are removed from bags and containers.

Residents are advised the potential of discolored water when crews are working in their area. Please avoid drawing discolored water into your hot water system.
